Environmental Project Engineer & Project Manager - Sarnia

Pollutech EnviroQuatics Limited has an immediate full-time employment opportunity in its Point Edward (Sarnia), Ontario facility to join its professional consulting group. The highly successful candidate must be dedicated to exceptional customer service, with excellent written and oral communication expertise and have an ability to provide direct leadership within a project team both externally and within our consulting group professional staff. Successful candidate will be responsible for development of new clients and opportunities as well as completion of technical projects for existing clientele.

 Anticipated Qualifications and Areas of Experience

  • Chemical Engineer with environmental specialty, or Civil Engineer with environmental specialty
  • Current Professional Engineer license (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or immediately transferrable license from another province (i.e., before commencing employment)
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a fully licensed P.Eng with 3-10 years of environmental consulting or related experience
  • Thoroughly familiar with Ontario and Canadian environmental legislation and regulations (i.e., Environmental Protection Act, O. Reg. 347 – Waste, MISA Regulations, O. Reg. 419 - Air, O. Reg. 153/04 – Records of Site Condition, Ontario Water Resources Act, O. Reg. 903 – Wells, S
  • Specific Experience including Phase 1, 2, 3+ Environmental Site Assessments on industrial, commercial and residential properties, assessment of soil and hydrogeological chemistry, preparation of applications and/or permits for Certificates of Approval – sewage works and air emissions, Fisheries Act, Public Lands Act and/or Conservation Authority and Navigable Waters Act.

Position Duties

Technical

  • Extensive Project Management in the organization and execution of field investigations from project proposals, work and resource plans, project costing/budgeting including groundwater investigations and site characterizations, proposals, client liaison, time management, co-ordinating team, resources, sub-contractors and the development of health and safety plans.
  • Ability to coordinate a number of complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments and responds to requests timely and efficiently.
  • Planning and executing complex subsurface environmental investigations, remedial action plans (development and implementation), remediation system installations and operations, risk assessments, and monitoring programs.
  • A thorough knowledge of and the ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines and standards and other relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice including health and safety regulations (e.g., Ontario Health and Safety Act) 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint . You must be comfortable in the use of computational software.
  • Pollutech offers 24 hour critical services to our clients you will be required to be available to work outside of the regular business hours including weekends and holidays when required.
